Is a biometric lock really an advantage over say an electronic keypad? When you think about it, there is always room for error for any kind of lock. For the biometric lock, if there is a little bit of a smudge on the reader you won’t be able to get in. So, you’d have to wipe down the reader and then try again. Plus, biometric locks are expensive pieces of equipment. When it comes to the electronic keypad there’s always a chance that the batteries will be dead when you need to get into your safe the most. But, if you keep up with the changing of the batteries, this will not likely happen. Of course, there’s the code that you’ll have to remember to punch in which can be difficult in a stressful situation. The upside on the electronic keypad is that they are not as expensive as a biometric lock. In fact, a lot of gun safes feature an electronic keypad. So, if I had to choose between a biometric lock and an electronic keypad, it’d be the electronic keypad hands down!!!!
