Special media safes are designed to protect valuable computer backup data from damage due to fire and water.  They carry a special media safe rating.  For example, a 1-hour fireproof rated media safe has been tested to meet certain standards.  The media safe has been subjected to a 350 degree F fire for a period of 1 hour, and the temperature inside the safe did not rise above 80 degrees F.

In addition, the humidity was measured during the test in which water was used to put the fire out, and the humidity remained at a safe level for delicate computer backup media.  Media safes come in a variety of sizes and shapes with a variety of interior arrangements designed to organize popular types of computer backup media.  So if you’re not using a special media safe to keep your computer backup data safe, think about the amount of time and labor involved in replacing all that data.  For more information on media safes.
