What would you consider valuable enough in your home to store in a safe? If you are like me and an everyday sorta person then your list would probably be something like this: birth certificate, marriage license, DIVORCE papers, will, a little cash, my grandson’s first picture he drew for me ( multi-color scribbles, but important to me). If you are a bit more wealthy, then maybe your list includes more cash, some silver or gold coins, some pricey jewelry, etc. If you take prescribed medications, have you ever considered those in your list of valuables to store in your home safe?
I spoke to a woman while I was in the pharmacy last night. She seemed pretty shaken and as we were waiting for our prescriptions, she proceeded to tell me what a hassle it was to get extra medication. I was curious so I asked a few questions and it turned out that she would purchase her pharmaceuticals in the largest quantity that her insurance would allow in order for her to save on the co-pay. The kicker here was a relative had been staying with them because of a lay-off at work. Here she is being a good person and while she is at work the relative cleans out her medication! I couldn’t believe it. How many of us would have pharmaceuticals around the home that could give a decent street value to a dishonest person. I told the woman that I would consider placing her medications in a safe from that point on. Even a simple home safe like the
Hollon HS-320D would at least offer protection from sticky fingers. This safe is an entry level safe for protection but if bolted down no one is going to walk off with it. She could always drape a piece of fabric or clothing on it to further camouflage. This would work wonders for you even if you were just worried about your kids or grandkids getting into your medication and consuming it accidentally.
