A new UL rated 1 hour fireproof home safe, the LC-60J, has been introduced by Hollon Safes. Its 1 hour UL rating is a much higher standard than other ratings often used by manufacturers. The 1 hour UL rating requires that the safe be subjected to an 1850 degree F fire for a period of 1 hour, and that the temperature inside the safe cannot reach above 350 degrees F. This is a low enough temperature to keep your papers and small valuables from obtaining any permanent damage in the event of a fire. The LC-60J also features seamless construction. This method of constuction does away with the welded seams (weak spots) used by non-seamless safes.
The safe is medium-sized, measuring 23.5″ x 19″ x 19″ on the outside and 18.25″ x 13.25″ x 11.75″ on the inside. The LC-60J also uses true composite construction. There’s an outer solid steel layer, an inner solid steel layer and in between is placed a layer of concrete-like fireproofing material. This method of construction allows the safe to achieve its 1 hour fireproof rating. The safe comes with a removable shelf at the top and a secure lockbox with a key lock that easily fits in the bottom of the safe. The LC-60J uses a secure combination dial locking mechanism, and includes 2 active locking bolts on the opening side and 1 fixed locking bolt on the hinge side.
