You can use a drop safe to have your employees deposit any large amount of cash they take in throughout the day. A drop safe is nice because you don’t have to give your employees access to it in order for them to place something into it. Drop safes use a slot on the top or front of the safe, or a rotary hopper like a mailbox, to allow deposits to be made without opening the safe. For this reason, they are sometimes called depository safes.
Drop safes have a baffle attached to the slot or hopper used to make deposits that prevents someone from “fishing” the contents back out through the opening. It’s a good idea to move the contents of a drop safe to a more secure location at the end of the day — they are not very burglary resistant because of the opening for making deposits.
