Drop safes are designed for temporary storage of cash and other small, valuable items (such as checks, jewelry placed in small envelopes, etc.). They provide both convenience and security. You do not have to enter the combination of a drop safe in order to store something in it - it has a slot or a hopper that is used to “deposit” the item. This opening has baffles that keep someone from “fishing” the contents of the safe back out through the opening.
You could, for example, have the operators at your retail establishment deposit all cash bills over a certain amount (say over $20) into a drop safe. Then if someone robs your establishment, as long as the attendant does not have the combination to the drop safe, your cash will be safe. You could also place a sign in the window stating that the attendant “has no bills larger than $20″, thus saving a would-be robber from even trying the robbery to begin with.
