Electronic safes are the latest in electronic security.  Basically one of two types, they are also more convenient than traditional mechanical safes.  The two available types are electronic keypad and biometric.  An electronic keypad safe uses a keypad like the one found on an ATM machine - you enter a PIN number on the keypad to open the safe.  A biometric safe uses a fingerprint scanner to grant access to the safe.

If you’re considering buying a fire safe, consider what type of locking mechanism the safe uses.  By far the most convenient is the electronic locking mechanism.  These come in two types — the electronic keypad type and the biometric type.  The electronic keypad type uses a keypad similar to the ones found on ATM machines.  You simply enter the proper PIN number on the keypad to open the safe.  This is much more convenient than remembering the left-right-left numbers for a combination safe.

You can use a drop safe to have your employees deposit any large amount of cash they take in throughout the day.  A drop safe is nice because you don’t have to give your employees access to it in order for them to place something into it.  Drop safes use a slot on the top or front of the safe, or a rotary hopper like a mailbox, to allow deposits to be made without opening the safe.  For this reason, they are sometimes called depository safes.

Drop safes have a baffle attached to the slot or hopper used to make deposits that prevents someone from “fishing” the contents back out through the opening.  It’s a good idea to move the  contents of a drop safe to a more secure location at the end of the day — they are not very burglary resistant because of the opening for making deposits.  For more information on drop safes.
