Heaven forbid your house or apartment catches on fire. Are you prepared to keep your important information, documents, and especially pictures safe? The sad fact is that most people are not. Unfortunately, accidents happen all the time. It’s important to make sure that you have your personal belongings in a safe and secure place.
A home safe is something that every home needs. It is very beneficial in protecting personal information as well as family heirlooms. There are several different types of safes to choose from. A fireproof safe is probably the most beneficial to have in your home. They are multipurpose safes made out of thin metal with a double wall and have a fire-resistant insulating material between the walls. They provide a decent level of security since they are designed to protect important information against fire.

When it comes to securing business documents and other items of value, it’s important to utilize an office safe. There are three types of safes that are traditionally used to secure business information. Those safes are: the floor safe, the wall safe, and the in-floor safe.
While all of these office safes are effective, you need to research which one best suits your needs. Floor safes are frequently use because they are large and heavy, making them a difficult target for would-be thieves. Wall safes are ideal if you need quick access to important documents with some frequency. In-floor safes are less common because they require some floor remodeling, but they do make for very secure holdings.
My father owns his own computer consulting firm that he operates out of his home office. He designs computer software and writes computer code for small businesses. He also does troubleshooting for many of his clients.
He has a lot of computers, external hard drives, and other electronics where he stores and conducts all of his work. Since he is the main bread winner for the family, if anything happened to his equipment we would be in a bad way financially. To protect his equipment and livelihood, my dad has several fireproof media safes. These safes are specifically designed so that the inside temperatures don’t reach a point where the electronics would be damaged by fire.
The 2001 remake of Ocean’s 11 is one of my favorite movies. With a cast that includes George Clooney, Matt Damon, and Julia Roberts, what’s not to like? Perhaps the best scene in the entire movie is when Danny Ocean’s team manages to empty the safes at the Bellagio in Las Vegas.
Essentially, Danny Ocean’s crew played two safes off of each other. While they were raiding the real safe, they were transmitting video of a fake safe set-up to Bellagio Owner, Tony Benedict. It is only after Ocean’s crew pulls off the heist that Benedict realizes the video he has been watching is a fake because it doesn’t have the Bellagio insignia on the floor that had recently been added. If you love comedy and action flicks with a well-rounded plot, you should definitely check out the Ocean’s 11 series.
Our family is very security conscious. We purposefully live in a gated community with the hopes that the added security would lessen the odds that our home would be targeted by thieves. Although our community has been mostly secure over the years, there has been a troubling string of robberies nearby. This made me realize that there was more I could do to protect my family’s valuables inside our home.
I decided that it was time to install a wall safe. After looking over several wall safes, I settled on a heavy gauge steel plate safe that has an easy to use electronic lock. Inside, I store valuable jewelry, birth certificates, social security cards, passports, and other important documentation. Hopefully, I’ll never have to endure a break-in, but just in case I know that important items will be protected, items that would help us get our lives back on track.

My husband is planning on purchasing a gun safe. I have had the pleasure of being part of this process. We have been to a few dealers locally and have also been trying to research gun safes on the internet. I never realized how many choices there are or how easily you can be duped. Initially, the decision to purchase a gun safe came about due to my insecurity about having firearms just laying around the house. We don’t have any small children running around the house, but the idea that anyone entering our home could have access to his guns made me nervous. After much consideration and long hours of debate, my husband decided to go with a Hollon gun safe. He chose a Hollon Republic RG-16 model gun safe. This safe is Hollon’s smallest model gun safe, yet it weighs pretty heavy against its’ competitors. It holds up to 16 guns and you could store other stuff in there too like paperwork or jewelry because it’s also a fireproof safe.

Just look at how thick this door is! That’s like 5″ of steel protecting what’s inside. The body of the safe is a full 1 1/4″ and it has big bolts! That’s what sold my husband on this model. This safe easily compared to the Amsec BF series gun safes but didn’t put as big a bite on our bank account!

The Hollon fireproof home safes are all steel construction with UL fire rating of 1850 degrees. The Hollon HS-370D has a seamless body and door construction which adds to its overall strength and appearance. This safe along with others in the series will protect your paperwork and valuables from fire for 1 hour. The safe comes with one removable shelf and boltdown hardware is also included. This model along with all the Hollon safes in this series comes with a combination dial key lock. An electronic lock is also available for those of you that would prefer a lock you can change the combination on as often as you like.

The Hollon HS-340D home safe has been UL rated and tested to temperatures of 1850 degrees. This line of Hollon safes are a great entry level safe for home or office. They provide you with time against theft and time against fire. This steel safe has a seamless body and door construction for added strength and appearance. This safe has 2 active round locking bolts And a fixed hinge side bolt for added security. This particular model is equipped with a combination and key lock. This safe comes with a bottom bolt hole and bolt hardware included. If one hour fire protection is not adequate for you then maybe the Hollon 2 hour office safe line is what you need. The Hollon Fire and Burglary safes provide the same level of fire protection as the 2 hour office safes but with the added security of burglar resistance.
We’ve all seen it on the news or heard about it on the radio. Someone’s house burned down and they lost all of their irreplaceable and priceless family possessions. Whether it’s pictures or critical papers, losing possessions that can’t be replaced is devastating. Most people imagine that a house fire is not something that could happen to them. They’re safe with their electrical outlets, their stove and other products that generate extreme heat. Add in a smoke alarm and for some reason home owners believe their house is now fireproof.
The sad fact is that fires often do not start due to negligence or carelessness on the part of a home’s inhabitants. Electrical appliances are notorious for malfunctioning at the most inopportune times through no fault of the owner. The presence of smoke alarms creates a psychological impression that you and your belongings are safe from fire. But smoke alarms don’t prevent fires, they just let you know once a fire has already started burning. House fires therefore have an impossible to anticipate unpredictability. Fires can strike anywhere at anytime without any negligence or carelessness. The important thing is to be prepared. Protect your most valued possessions with fireproof safes. Even if a fire never strikes, at least you’ll have the peace of mind that your valuables are protected.
