gun safe

When you are the owner of a gun, no matter what type of gun you have, safety is important. Taking precautions to make sure that your gun won’t get stolen, incase of  a home invasion, as well as making sure that your children can’t get to it is just as, if not more, important. You want to make sure that your gun is in a safe and secure place.

The best way to make sure that your gun is in a secure and locked area is by using gun safes. Some safes are designed to be hidden from obvious view. Electronic locks as well as mechanical locks are available on many models of safes. Some safes only provide protection against burglary and prevent access to young family members, while other safes provide additional protection against fire and other natural disasters.

The news is often rife with stories detailing mishandling of firearms. Children who got a hold of a parent’s gun and shot themselves or a playmate are far too common. One death or injury as a result of improperly stored firearms is one death or injury too many. What’s more, a house that is burglarized can have the potential to provide a criminal element with highly sought after firepower. Or, even worse, someone breaks into your house with you in it and uses your own unsecured weapons to harm you.

The simple fact is that it’s never, ever a good idea to leave firearms unsecure at any time, no matter where you are. Responsible gun owners know the dangers of poorly handled or stored firearms. There is a tragic and irreversible finality to a mishap with a gun. And one of the most tragic aspects is that it could have been prevented. If every gun owner had a gun safe then the number of accidental deaths and injuries would be substantially decreased. The number of injuries and deaths that occur with stolen firearms would also be affected. The bottom line is this: if you have a gun, keep it secured in a safe or you could be one of those people we hear about on the news, left with a tragedy you could have prevented.

electronic fire safe

Before I got my own place, my parents kept track of all my important documents—birth certificate, passport, social security card, etc. Now that I’m on my own I obviously need that stuff with me, but it’s a huge responsibility. I mean, with that information virtually anyone could steal my identity. Not only that, if the documents were to be damaged or destroyed, it would take me months to get replacements.

In order to protect my valuables and put my mind at ease, I recently got an electronic fire safe for my apartment. The dealer ensured me that the locking mechanism was impregnable, which makes me happy because my new residence is on the Southside. And since the unit is fireproof, I’ll be able to evacuate immediately if there’s a fire, instead of fumbling with the combination of my safe.

Is a biometric lock really an advantage over say an electronic keypad? When you think about it, there is always room for error for any kind of lock. For the biometric lock, if there is a little bit of a smudge on the reader you won’t be able to get in. So, you’d have to wipe down the reader and then try again. Plus, biometric locks are expensive pieces of equipment. When it comes to the electronic keypad there’s always a chance that the batteries will be dead when you need to get into your safe the most. But, if you keep up with the changing of the batteries, this will not likely happen. Of course, there’s the code that you’ll have to remember to punch in which can be difficult in a stressful situation. The upside on the electronic keypad is that they are not as expensive as a biometric lock. In fact, a lot of gun safes feature an electronic keypad. So, if I had to choose between a biometric lock and an electronic keypad, it’d be the electronic keypad hands down!!!!

When recommending a gun safe for customers, I always go to the Winchester gun safes. They are a great quality gun safe and offer different accessories, unlike a few of their competitors. I have never had any complaints from customers regarding their Winchester Gun Safes, they all seem to be very pleased with their safe.

I came across a Great Question regarding storing a gun safe in a garage in a high humidity area!!! There are always concerns when it comes to where you should store not only your guns and ammunition but also your gun safe. Gun Safes, just like other fireproof safes, are made to withstand high temperatures, some up to 1850 degrees. So when it comes to heat, depending on the gun safe, you should be covered. Now, that does not apply to the humidity of the area in which your safe is being kept. Being in South Texas, believe you me, I know about humidity. I would recommend purchasing a dehumidifying rod. Some gun safes feature a dehumidifying hole, which I do not, DO NOT recommend using. When you use that dehumidifier hole, you are taking away from the fire protection of your gun safe because you are having to run electricity to your gun safe. You don’t want to do that, especially when it comes to guns and ammunition. The dehumidifying rod will do the trick, they’re battery powered so you won’t have to run electricity to it. There’s also damp-rid that you can purchase at a local store, which will help out even more if you are really worried about the humidity. gun safe

As a loyal member of the NRA, I keep an extraordinary array of firearms in my home at all times. While bearing firearms is certainly a right, I recognize that it is also an immense responsibility. When my wife and I had our first child a couple of months ago, I knew that I would have to create a cache for all of my weapons so that the child had no way of accessing them.

Of course, the most efficient and reliable means of storing firearms is a gun safe. After looking online, I decided to go with a premium model that had ample space for all of my guns, as well as future purchases. After owning the safe for several years, I couldn’t be happier with the level of protection and sense of security it provides me and my family.
